The idea of putting a map onto luggage and the creation of the Prima Classe label are the work of Alviero Martini, who draws inspiration from his great passion for travel and maps. During a trip to Russia in 1987, Martini acquired an old map which he immediately thought to apply onto an old suitcase, thus creating the "prototype". Two years were needed to develop the idea and in 1989 the Classe line was presented to the American market, becoming an instant success the world over.

Looks new!I bought my bag in Milan at the Alviero Martini boutique 3 years ago and it looks brand new. I love this soft collection as it is younger and sportier than the more structered part of the line. My friends have Alviero Martini bags that they have bought in New York. Great traveller - I specifically purchased this tote for a trip to Japan. I didn't go yet, but the bag should work out beautifully! It's so classy, organized, and roomy. I have bought another bag from this designer and I have used it happily for years! The only downside to this bag, is that I thought it had a zipper across the entire bag to seal it shut. I have been dealing with Zappos for awhile now and they are totally awesome! And quick to deliver your order! Way to go!
